M and I tried Shi Zen Ya’s original location on Howe Street and enjoyed it so much we wanted to try their new location on West Broadway. I love how healthy and fresh everything is without having to pay extra. Many places charge extra for brown rice sushi and the prices at Shi Zen Ya are quite reasonable. So after class on Friday, we made our way to Shi Zen Ya for lunch since we both get off the same time.
We decided to share an order of Chicken Gyoza– organic vegetables stuffed in chicken breast dumplings. These gyoza’s were fried to a golden brown and plump filled with chicken, water chestnuts, carrots and green onions. M and I liked how we could taste all the ingredients and thoroughly enjoyed this.
Both M and I got the same main.
M and I got the Terriyaki Beef-juicy and tender sukiyaki beef with organic vegetable terriyaki sauce and brown rice. It also comes with gomaae. The beef was tender and the sauce was light and not too salty. I quite enjoyed this.
Overall, Shi Yen Za is a great place to get healthy and affordable Japanese food. It has become one of my favourite Japanese restaurants due to it’s fresh and healthy ingredients and good price. One of my new years resolutions is to eat out less and eat healthier and Shi Zen Ya is a good place for that 😛
I rate Shi Zen Ya 9/10.
