Recent Purchases

With all the Black Friday sales going on, I was excited to shop. I only ended up getting 1 item on sale though; a jacket from American Eagle online because they were having 40% off everything and free shipping.

{This jacket is sold out on AE but I’ve seen Material Girl and Top Shop carry it}

From Little Burgundy I got:

{Everything Augusta toque- so soft and comfy}

{I’ve been really into stud’s lately so I got these stud earrings}

I also bought a pack of macaron’s from Bel Cafe, yum!

{Flavours include: raspberry, vanilla, pb&j, pistachio, cookies and cassia, cookies and cream (my all time fav) and dark chocolate}

I also ordered some items off Forever 21 online but it’s not very interesting. So that concludes my Black Friday “haul”. I find that I have less of a desire to shop for clothing nowadays, which is great for my wallet but I just end up spending most of my money on food… LOL

Video: Drunken Doughnuts

With two weeks left in the semester, I still have a truckload of projects, essays and assignments to do. After completing those,I have exams on the following two weeks. Winter break cannot come any faster for me! Since I haven’t been doing much lately that isn’t school related, I present to you this video on “drunken” doughnuts, or essentially doughnuts with alcohol flavoured filling.

Guanaco Food Truck

S.A.W asked me the other day if I have ever bought a VANEATS pass, so I dedicate this post to her LOL. Anyways, this is my first time purchasing a VANEATS dining pass. Since I don’t have a credit card, it limits my online purchasing ability, including purchasing other VANEATS passes.

Guanaco serves up Salvadoran cuisine, a cuisine I have never tried before so I was excited to try it. Their brightly coloured red truck is located infront of H-Mart on Seymour and Robson.

This and That

After finishing my biology midterm on Monday (which I’m positive I did horribly on) I finally had some time to actually have a social life this week! This included watching 2 movies, trying new foods, making a trip to Ikea and seeing Metric live in concert (which was amazing by the way!). Here are some pictures of my week via my phone and my dad’s point and shoot:

{My favourite time of the year is Christmas! I love drinking Joy Tea Latte’s from Starbucks during this time of the year}

{I don’t usually eat Mcdonalds, but I decided to try the new (to Canada) Chicken McBites }

{Breakfast combo with sausage and over easy eggs from school. Much needed after an extremely boring early morning English class}

{Pho at Pho Tan}

Busy Student Food: Tortellini

I have a confession to make, even though I enjoy cooking, I am a lazy student cook who has little time or motivation to cook. One of my favourite dishes to make during “midterm season” is tortellini. Reasons why I love tortellini:

a) It’s cooks pretty fast, around 6-8 minutes depending on the filling

b) Comes in a variety of filling, including cheese, beef, chicken, etc.

c) Taste good (to me lol)

In the above picture is roasted garlic tortellini with a ground chicken meat sauce topped with chopped basil and mozzarella cheese. Here is how I cooked this dish:

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil
  2. While the water is boiling, start cooking your ground meat
  3. Add canned tomatoe sauce to the meat and bring to a simmer
  4. Turn the heat to low and let it simmer
  5. Once the water is to a boil, turn heat to medium and add tortellini and cook for 6-8 minutes on a gentle boil
  6. Once the tortellini is cooked, add meat sauce, basil and shredded cheese
  7. Enjoy!

You can always opt out the ground meat in the sauce if you’re using a meat filled tortellini, but I had some in my fridge and decided to add it in the sauce.

Let me know what you think of this post and if you want me to share more of my busy student foods.

What I’ve Been Up To

November is going to be an extremely hectic month for me, I’m counting down the days until my last exam in December. My research methods class has been a big pain;I have a new found appreciation for researchers. Here’s some pictures of what I’ve been up to:

{Stepping on colorful leaves on my way to the bus stop}

{Studying biology with a royal tea latte from Marulilu Cafe}

{Eating New York cheesecake flavoured frozen yogurt topped with mochi and cheesecake from Qoola}

{Eating 10 inch chicken wrap from Taco Louis. FYI this wrap is great for poor students like myself, it only cost me $4.10 and it was very filling}

{Lastly, visiting Yuki after a long week}

I hope everyone has a good weekend and thanks for reading (even though I haven’t been updating much)!
