Weeking Outings: The Farmer’s Market

One of my favourite weekend activities is to visit the farmers market with my cousin. Two weeks ago, I visited the Kitsilano farmer’s market, which is temporarily being held at the location where Nat Bailey’s farmer market is held. Since I was dog sitting that week, I decided to bring along Yuki. Continue reading to the end to see what I bought!

Over the weekend, I had an opportunity to check out Got Craft? Spring Edition with my cousin and her friend. On the Saturday afternoon we visited, it was bustling with people and overall, I had a good experience. Here are some highlights from the market and read until the end of the post to find out what I bought!

Life Lately: Food, Beauty and Health

Hello! Sorry for the short hiatus, I have been swamped with midterms that blogging has been one of my last priorities these days. I have two midterms before my reading break and I’m bummed that I won’t be going anywhere during my reading break. Guess I’ll just reminisce about my time in Vegas last year. Here are bits of my past week:

{Dine Out Vancouver @ Baru Latino}

I went to my second (and last) Dine Out on Sunday at Baru Latino. I specifically chose Baru Latino for their paella (bottom left picture). Overall, my meal was delicious and the flan was heavenly, although M thought it was too sweet.

{Left to right: Murad oil control mattifier, Murad Pure Skin Dietary Supplements, Anatasia brow powder, Boscia Clear Complexion Treatment and Clinique All About Eyes eye cream}

I ordered some skin care products from Sephora a few weeks ago when they were doing a 2x the points event. The products above are mostly to target my acne and oily skin. I’ve tried a multitude of products for my oily skin, but nothing has really worked so far. I read good reviews about the Murad oil control mattifier, so I am anxious to see how it will work for me!

3 Things

{Lemongrass beef & spring rolls from Saigon Venture}

{Homemade kimchi fried brown rice with bacon}

{New glasses for school — I love them!}

Life lately has been uneventful. The only exciting thing for me lately was attaining new glasses and getting my eye brows threaded. Other than that, I’ve been just focusing on school. I don’t have much else to say, so that’s it for this post. Thanks for reading!

The Least Wonderful Time of the Year

It’s that time of the year again…. final’s. Even though it’s December and Christmas is fast approaching, I can’t feel excied for anything related to the holidays because I’m stressed about finals. Life lately consists of studying, consuming copious amounts of caffeine and eating. I did however, did some shopping on Black Friday. I was pressed on time because I went before class, so I didn’t get as much as I was wanted to.

From Topshop, I got 3 dresses and a top for $10 each! A very good deal in my opinion, especially for the dresses (which I will be wearing for the holidays). The dresses are nicer in real life, the picture doesn’t do it justice.

Other than studying, I’ve been eating of course. Here are some phone pictures of what I’ve been eating:

9 Things

One more weekend until school starts. I’ve had a long four month summer break and after this weekend, I’ll be back into school mode. As the first day of school grows closer, I’m overcome with this anxiety that I’m not up to par academically with the others. I’ve never been the smart type, I’ve always been an average student and it’s still a miracle to me that I got accepted into UBC. I voiced my concerns to a friend, and she told me to “prove them wrong”. That’s probably one of the most encouraging words I’ve been told.

For this labour day long weekend, I share with you 9 things from my summer, taken from my phone:

  1. Rudolph on liege waffle from Nero Belgian Waffle Bar
  2. Bisquit on brussel waffle from Nero Belgian Waffle Bar– finally got to try Nero and it did not disappoint!
  3. UBC Domo plush– Spotted this at the bookstore and had to get one because it was too cute to pass
  4. Meat sauce Japanese style spaghetti from Spaghetei for my post birthday lunch with S.A.W
  5. Philly cheese steak from Vera’s Burger Shack– used the $10 coupon Vera’s sent me for my birthday and got a Philly cheese steak, which was a disappointment
  6. Red velvet cupcake from Eagles Buffet in Tulalip casino
  7. Ra bok ki & Kimbap from Cham Mami
  8. Vietnamese iced coffee from Le Pho
  9. Chicken Karaage curry from ShuRaku Sake Bar and Bistro

That concludes this post. I hope you enjoy the long weekend and what is left of summer! It already feels like Fall here in Vancouver, or should I say Raincouver. Thanks for reading!

Life Lately

Hello readers! I’ve been feeling lazy lately, hence the lack of post. A lot of has happened for me since my last post! As you may know, I was preparing for my move to Kelowna to attend UBC Okanagan, but I am no longer moving. Last Friday, I got an email from UBC informing me that a small number of spaces remain in the faculty of arts at the Vancouver campus and they are offering me admission. I was actually really shocked, because they had rejected me months ago and I wasn’t expecting anything like this to happen. I accepted the offer because I would be saving my parents at least $1k a month on rent and food, but because it was offered to me at such a late time, many of the classes I wanted to take are full.

In other news, I got a new car! Technically it isn’t “my” car because I am sharing it with my brother, but I am still happy because I can now venture into farther places to try new places to eat. Before I had to borrow my moms car to drive and it was quite the hassle because my mom always made the borrowing process complicated.

I got a 2013 Mazda 3 sport in the colour graphite. The car was purchased at Freeway Mazda located in Maple Ridge and I was impressed with our salesman Anthony.

Lastly, here are some pictures of some food I ate lately:

{Lemongrass pork chop, shredded pork and meat pie from Thai Son}

{I purchased this watermelon soda because someone on my Facebook raved about it, but I thought the taste wasn’t very watermelon like. It tasted more like those sour watermelon candies in a soda form}

Recent Purchases: US edition

Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well. Last Thursday, Es S, Prince V and I headed down to the states to do some shopping. We went to Seattle’s premium outlet, Trader Joe’s and Bellis Fair. This was our first time going to Trader Joe’s and I was excited to go because I’ve heard people raving about so many of their products! Here’s what I got:

Our first stop was the premium outlets. I didn’t buy much because I wanted to save my money for Trader Joe’s and Bellis fair.

I got this Marc by Marc Jacobs watch from the Fossil store for $60, which I think is a good deal. It’s a small watch with a leather strap and a good addition to my closet. I also got a pack of bangles from Aldo, which came with a leaf bangle and an infinity sign bangle.

From PacSun, I got a cross printed cardigan ($19.99)  and Billabong tank top ($16.99) with a hear print. PacSun is having a great sale right now, all their sale items are buy 1 get 1 free.

Our next stop was Trader Joe’s. My first impression of the place was that the prices were so cheap compared to Canada. I can’t wait to come back!

I also bought a bag of lightly salted kettle cooked chips but ate it before I took these pictures. I’ve only tried the Palak Paneer and onion rings so far, and I thought both were good.

Recent Purchase: Hunter Bradwell Short Rain Boots

While browsing the clearance section on Little Burgundy’s website, I came across these Hunter Bradwell short rain boots. These have been on my wishlist after seeing a picture of them on instagram. I have big calves, so I have a hard and mostly frustrating time finding tall boots that fit, so I tend to buy booties. Since they were 50% off their original price of $140, I decided to get them. I also had a 10% code and after shipping (which is $5), the total was $75.84.  These will be perfect for the snowy Kelowna winters and I think they pair nicely with skinny jeans. Even though they aren’t the most physically attractive shoes, I bought them because they are practical in snowy weather conditions and also because I don’t own any Chelsea style boots.

Here are some ways to wear these boots:

With all the sales going on, it’s very tempting to purchase things I want, but don’t necessarily need. I’ve limited myself to purchasing clothing for the upcoming fall and winter seasons because Kelowna doesn’t have most of the clothing stores I shop at, so in a way, I am stocking up in Vancouver. Forever 21 Recent Purchases

I just cleaned my room the other day and I realize I have a lot of clothes and the sad thing is that I tend to wear the same pieces of clothing. Lately I’ve been really into cross-printed clothing. I’m not exactly sure why I’m so drawn to cross-printed clothing but my recent purchases from Forever 21 reflect this craze.

Here’s what I got:

The first item I got is this cross printed short-sleeve blouse.

The second item I got is this studded muscle t-shirt with a diamond print. I love the stud detailing.

The last item I got is this cross print maxi skirt. You can’t tell from this picture but it has a slit on the side and underneath is actually a pair of shorts. I’ll probably add my own underskirt under this because I find the shorts too short.

So that concludes my recent purchase. Thanks for reading!
