Pistachio White Chocolate Croissant from Footo Delights

A quick post about the pistachio white chocolate croissant from Footo Delights. I love both pistachio and white chocolate, so this was on my must try list for a while.

Pistachio white chocolate croissant- filled with pistachio cream and white chocolate chips

The buttery and flaky layers combined with chunks of pistachio and sweetness from the white chocolate made for a delicious croissant.

I’ve also tried their whole wheat croissant and it was very buttery and flaky- a sign of a good croissant! Check out Footo Delights if you are in the downtown area looking for yummy croissants.

It’s the Weekend Already?

I find that I always lose track of what day of the week it is during breaks. It feels like Friday everyday, but in reality, the week has just started. This week was spent eating (of course!), baking,shopping and watching a movie. Here are some pictures from the week:

{I baked blueberry white chocolate bran muffins– recipe coming soon}

{Decided to try this new sushi place on Hastings and got combo b: dynamite roll, yam tempura roll and cucumber roll}

{Watched Jiro Dreams of Sushi with Es S, made me crave sushi really badly}

{Hot wings from Brown’s Social House on West 4th}

Happy Birthday S.A.W.!!

Today is S.A.W.’s 19th birthday, which makes her officially legal in Canada! For part of her birthday present, I decided to surprise her with something sweet… 😛

I surprised her with some sweets at Leonidas since we both share the love for desserts! I bought a voucher on The Red Pocket which entitled us to 2 signature hot chocolates, 2 liege waffles, 2 chocolate dipped strawberries and 2 pieces of chocolate.

{S.A.W.’s surprise!}

And here’s the birthday card I gave S.A.W.

{Macaron birthday card 🙂 Both S.A.W. and I share a love for macarons}

Don’t forget to check out her new blog here!

I will post my weekend recap tomorrow and I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hoi An Cafe

Now that I have some free time since the semester is over, I am back with a restaurant review! I visited Hoi An with my brother RKO a while back for the purpose of trying their specialty dish. RKO was getting a hair cut on Victoria Drive, so it was the perfect opportunity to try out this little cafe.

When we arrived on a Sunday afternoon, it was busy, which is a good sign. The place is fairly new and the interior is quite clean, but the seating can be very tight, depending on where you sit. The old couple beside us kept staring at me while I took pictures and they also kept staring at our food…

Hoi An has a small menu consisting of appetizers and pho (no rice dishes), but unlike other Vietnamese places around town, they serve Mi Quang and Mi Cao Lau- dry/ semi-dry rice noodle dishes served with a variety of ingredients.

RKO and I started off with an order of salad rolls. Consisting of vermicelli, romaine lettuce, shrimp and vietnamese ham, these were very fresh tasting and tightly rolled. Dipped into the accompany hoisin peanut sauce, these were delicious.

Both our dishes were served with a side of mixed green herbs consisting of basil, mint, romaine lettuce, and what I believe is slice banana flower.

My Style

I realize I’ve never really describe my style on this blog, so as suggested by Prince V, this post will showcase my style.

I would describe my style as: girly, simple, lacking in color

Things I enjoy wearing: blouses, cardigans, skinny jeans, booties, boots, oxfords, trench jackets, moto style jackets, dresses, skirts, scarves, accessories

Things I rarely wear: sneakers ( I prefer wearing oxfords for days I will be doing a lot of walking), t-shirts, hoodies, sweat pants, heels ( haven’t mastered walking in them), color ( Most of my clothes are either white, black, grey, blue or neutral colors)

Here are some outfits of my style I put together on Polyvore:

Untitled #4

My everyday style usually consist of a blouse, skinny jeans, and a jacket or a cute top with a cardigan, skinny jeans and oxfords.

My school style is basically my everyday style but a little more casual. I don’t dress in my casual style too often, mostly for school because sometimes I feel over dressed for school LOL.

Recent Purchases

Now that finals are over, I finally went shopping. Here are some things I bought on Sunday:

{Half dozen Belgium waffles from Damien’s Belgium Waffle’s in Steveston}

{Moon blouse from The Bay. It was on sale and came out to be around $23}

{Sleeveless blouse from Old Navy. Inspired by spring’s bright hues, I decided to add some colour into my otherwise colourless closet}

{Long sleeve shirt from Old Navy}

My Strange Eating Habits

I thought I would blog about something different for a change, so I’ve compiled a list of my strange eating habits. We’ve all got them, so here are 15 of mines:

  1. I absolutely despise tofu because of its texture and taste but I love eating puddings, especially creme caramels and creme brulee and I’ve been told that they have similar textures.
  2. I only eat raw fish or sashimi with some sort of spicy sauce, I won’t eat it plain
  3. I don’t like eating raw proteins, as in raw seafood,meats,or eggs. I can only eat it if it’s seared on the outside or thinly sliced.
  4. I’m not a big fan of sandwiches and burgers because I find them too messy to eat, but I like subs, especially Vietnamese banh mi’s
  5. I don’t eat raw oysters but I love eating cooked oysters
  6. I hate the sweet and savory combo. I don’t like it when my sweet food touches my savory food
  7. I don’t like eating egg yolks. I get my eggs over-medium so I can eat the egg whites around the yolk
  8. My favourite meal of the day is breakfast/ brunch. I would eat it every meal if I could! I just love breakfast items such as waffles, pancakes, hash browns, etc.
  9. I actually don’t mind eating undressed salad. But if I do use dressing, it’s usually a vinaigrette because I don’t like creamy dressings
  10. Even though I love eating desserts, I don’t really like chocolate desserts because I find them too decadent (unless it’s white chocolate)
  11. I only like to eat certain types of Chinese food. I like Shanghainese and Tawainese food but I don’t enjoy eating Cantonese food
  12. I love aromatics- onions, garlic, scallions, shallots. At family dinners, I like to get every last bit of aromatics and eat it with the next dish
  13. I get sick of eating a certain food or cuisine if I eat it too often
  14. I hated yogurt as a child but now I can’t get enough of it
  15. My favourite protein is chicken; at a restaurant, I’ll most likely order something with chicken in it

So these are my strange eating habits. What are some of yours? I would love to hear them! 🙂

Feels Like Summer

Like mentioned in yesterday posts, this post will be about my Friday. I had my last exam on Friday and planned to go high tea with S.A.W and Bill Gate’s Daughter then watch Hunger games after.

Before high tea, I met up with S.A.W at one of my favourite stores,Front and Company on Main Street. Here’s some pictures I took while I was there:

{I spotted these rings that look a lot like YSL’s arty ring. These rings are around $20 but they seem to only carry one size though}

{ I wanted to get this magnet because I love the quote, but it was a bit pricey for a magnet}

{High Tea at Faubourgh. My first time going for high tea and I enjoyed it}

Freedom!

I finished my last exam, which means freedom! I’ve been feeling pretty good lately due to several factors:

  • I did well on both my anthropology and criminology papers
  • I have no more exams to do
  • I got an email from Eat! Vancouver informing me of my volunteer position
  • I got to hang out with S.A.W and Bill Gate’s daughter after having no social life for the past 2 months
  • I got money from a piece of clothing I consigned

This was suppose to be up yesterday (Friday), but I was too tired when I came home. Started Friday off with an 8:30am exam and came home around 9pm. I took a lot of pictures so I’m going to make a separate post on what I did on Friday tomorrow.

Here are some phone pictures of my week:

{What I made for dinner on Monday: cod fillet with Es S’ sauce, cheese tortellini & green salad}

{Small beef noodle soup (pho) & salad roll at Oakridge food court}

{Macaron’s from Murchies. They spelled macaron wrong haha}
